Background

You’ll trigger this quest if you agree to help Liam de Coronata at the end of the quest Wine Wars: Belgaard (Part 1).

Walkthrough

For this quest, you’ll need to solve five problems that are afflicting Coronata Vineyard (#1). These problems are listed below:

  • Kill two level 38 archespores and clear the vineyard infestation (#2).
  • Rescue an herbalist from a trio of level 40 bandits (#3). Afterwards, the herbalist will travel to Coronata Vineyard (#1) and set up shop. If you loot the bodies of the bandits, then you’ll find a Dirtied Letter, which will show that “V” is trying to sabotage Coronata.
  • Kill two level 38 archespores (#4). After the battle, when you search the corpses in the area, you’ll find one with Orders on Elegant Stationery. It will show that “V” ordered the dead men to plant archespore seedlings to sabotage Coronata. It will also mention a key “on the other side of the river.” You’ll need the orders to trigger the quest Wine Wars: The Deus in the Machina (see below).
  • Kill one level 38 archespore at an Abandoned Site (#5).
  • Kill two level 37 rabid rock trolls at a Hidden Treasure site (#6). After the battle, you’ll find a dead man nearby. He’ll have a Letter to Cosmo Cyrille in his possession, which will indicate that he was stealing barrels of wine from Coronata Vineyard. Reading the letter will also trigger the quest Coin Doesn’t Stink.

After solving Coronata’s problems, you’ll have to decide if you also want to help Matilda of Vermentino:

  • If you do, then you’ll need to work your way through the quest Wine Wars: Vermentino. While solving one of the problems for Vermentino, you’ll find a Letter on Elegant Stationery, which, along with the Orders on Elegant Stationery found in the Coronata quest, will indicate that a third party was responsible for the sabotaging of the two vineyards. This will trigger the quest Wine Wars: The Deus in the Machina, where you’ll learn that the culprit was none other than Count Crespi, the recently-deceased owner of Belgaard Vineyard.

After completing Wine Wars: Vermentino, and ideally after completing Wine Wars: The Deus in the Machina as well, when you return to the ducal clerk at Plegmund’s Bridge (#7), he’ll decide that Coronata and Vermentino should run Belgaard Vineyard together. This will earn you your negotiated fees with the two vintners, plus 200 xp. It will also trigger the quest Wine Wars: Belgaard (Part 2).
  • If you don’t want to help Vermentino, then you should return to the ducal clerk (#7) without completing Wine Wars: Vermentino. The clerk will award Belgaard Vineyard to Coronata, and he’ll become the sole owner. This will earn you your negotiated fee with him, plus 100 xp. It will also trigger the quest Wine Wars: Belgaard (Part 2).

Note: If you complete Wine Wars: The Deus in the Machina before completing Wine Wars: Coronata or Wine Wars: Vermentino, then the game will combine the two quests together to form the quest Wine Wars: Consorting, and you’ll have to complete that quest before continuing on to Wine Wars: Belgaard (Part 2).
