What Was This About Again? – Witcher 3: Blood and Wine Quest

1 – Shipwreck / Underwater Cave

Background

In the hold of a shipwreck in Toussaint North (#1), you’ll find a chest containing a Ship Captain’s Log and a Key. Reading the log will trigger the quest.

Walkthrough

From the log, you’ll learn that the ship was transporting a shaelmar when it went down, and that one of the passengers was carrying a locked chest full of gems. To reach the chest, you’ll have to dive down into the cave where the shaelmar fled, defeat the creature, and then climb up onto a ledge, where you’ll discover the chest. Inside the chest, you’ll find a Damaged Journal (which will explain why the shaelmar was on the ship), the diagram for the silver sword Tah’rel, and lots of useful gems and crafting materials. Looting the chest will complete the quest.

Note: If you haven’t faced a shaelmar yet, the easiest way to defeat it is to stand next to a wall and dive out of the way when it tries to roll into you. When the shaelmar crashes into the wall, it’ll usually roll over onto its back and remained stunned for a few seconds, giving you a chance to deal some major damage before it can right itself.
