The Sword, Famine and Perfidy – Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone Quest

This guide is a walkthrough of a side quest in the Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone DLC. The guide is composed of a map, map legend, and walkthrough to show readers exactly where to go and what to do to complete the quest.

Background

At a cabin in the Novigrad Far Outskirts (#1), you’ll have to defeat some level 34 drowned dead, but when you go inside you’ll find the corpse of a bandit holding a Dirtied Letter. Upon reading the letter, you’ll learn that the bandit imprisoned a man in the cabin’s cellar. To enter the cellar, you’ll just need to destroy the barrels hiding the entrance. Then inside the cellar, you’ll find the man’s corpse. He’ll have a Rusted Key and a Letter Written in Blood on him. Reading the letter will trigger the quest.

Walkthrough

The Letter Written in Blood will indicate that there is a locked chest on a sunken boat off the coast (#2). You’ll encounter some more drowned dead when you swim out to it. The chest will contain some random items. You’ll complete the quest when you loot them.
