1 – Crossroads Inn
2 – Heatherton

Walkthrough

Your goal in this quest is to find an imperial agent named Hendrik so you can learn more about Ciri. To track down Hendrik, you’ll first have to visit the Crossroads inn (#1). When you talk to the innkeep there, some of the Bloody Baron’s men will show up, and they’ll take an interest in a stranger with two swords. You’ll have three ways to deal with them: you can buy them a drink (and bribe them), you can tell them that you’re a witcher (and scare them into politeness), or you can threaten them (and kill them). If you kill the men, then you’ll have a slightly tougher time when you try and meet the Bloody Baron later.

After dealing with the soldiers, when you talk to the innkeep again, he’ll tell you that Hendrik lives in Heatherton, and that he’s an “odd fellow” who always seems to know what’s going on. Heatherton is located across the river to the west (#2). When you get there, you’ll find the place deserted, except for one man trying to fight off some wild dogs. After dealing with the dogs, the man will tell you that the town was visited by the Wild Hunt, and that everybody was either killed or taken.

Inside Hendrik’s house, you’ll discover that Hendrik was tortured and killed by the Wild Hunt. When you search his corpse, you’ll find a key in his boot. If turn on your witcher senses, then you’ll spot some rubble in an adjacent room. Clearing it away will reveal a locked trapdoor, which the key will unlock. In the cellar beyond, you’ll find a candle in a wall sconce. When you examine it, you’ll open up a compartment when you’ll find Hendrik’s Notes. This discovery will complete the quest and earn you 100 xp.
