1 – Bandits
2 – Witch Hunter
3 – Vilmerius Hospital

Background

This quest will become available after you’ve completed the quest A Matter of Life and Death. You’ll receive the quest from a group of bandits in Novigrad (#1).

Note: There is a second quest called “Novigrad, Closed City.” For more information about it, please click here.

Walkthrough

The bandits will tell you that they’re looking for their friend, who is injured, and who was last seen running towards the port after exiting the sewers. To track down the friend, you’ll need to turn on your witcher senses and search the area around the bandits. To the northeast, you’ll spot two footprints with traces of sewer slime on them, and you’ll be able to follow the scent. If you go too far in one of the other directions, then the bandits will decide that you don’t really know what you’re doing, and you’ll fail the quest.

Between the footprints and the scent — not to mention a bloody handprint at one point — you’ll be able to track the friend to the northeast. When you get to him (#2), you’ll discover that he’s a witch hunter rather than a friend, and that the bandits want to kill him. This will give you two ways to proceed:

  • You can let the bandits kill the witch hunter.
  • You can protect the witch hunter, which means you’ll have to kill the three level 14 bandits. Afterwards, the witch hunter will tell you that he needs immediate medical attention. If you agree to help him, then you’ll take him to the Vilmerius Hospital (#3). If you don’t help him, then he’ll die.

Regardless of how you play the quest, you won’t receive a reward at the end.
