Hidden in the Depths – Witcher 3 Quest

This guide is a walkthrough of a side quest in the Witcher 3 on the Skellige Isles. The guide is composed of a map, map legend, and walkthrough to show readers exactly where to go and what to do to complete the quest.

1 – Corpse / Cave

Background

In the southwestern part of Faroe in The Skellige Isles Southeast, you’ll discover a corpse next to a cave (#1). The corpse will have a Message and a Scratched Key on it. Reading the Message will trigger the quest.

Walkthrough

The Message will indicate that a treasure chest can be found inside the nearby cave. You’ll have to do some swimming in the front part of the cave, and then in the back you’ll encounter a level 31 venomous arachas and four level 20 endrega drones. Because of the darkness of the cave and the poison from the arachas, it’s a good idea to drink Cat and Golden Oriole before engaging the enemies.

After the battle, you’ll find a locked treasure chest in the back of the cave. The Scratched Key from the corpse will unlock it. Looting the random contents from the chest will complete the quest.

Note: This quest is a little bit buggy. It’s possible it will complete right after you trigger it, even if you haven’t found the treasure chest yet. But you’ll still be able to enter the cave and loot the chest, so the bug won’t cost you anything.
