Brothers in Arms (Nilfgaard, Novigrad, Skellige, and Velen) – Witcher 3 Quest

This guide is a walkthrough of a main quest of the Witcher 3 in the area of Kaer Morhen. The guide is composed of a map, map legend, and walkthrough to show readers exactly where to go and what to do to complete the quest.

Background

At the end of the quest Ugly Baby, you’ll trigger four Brothers in Arms quests, one each for Nilfgaard, Novigrad, Skellige, and Velen. This page is for all four quests.

Walkthrough

For these quests, you’ll need to recruit some allies to help defend Kaer Morhen against the Wild Hunt. You’ll have several people whom you can talk to. For most of them, you’ll have to complete one or more quests to convince them to join you. Luckily, by the time you get to this point in the game, you’ll probably have completed most of the recruitment quests anyway. The possible allies are listed below.

Note: The allies you recruit will only show up at Kaer Morhen after you’ve completed the quest The Isle of Mists.

Nilfgaard

  • Emhyr var Emreis. When you talk to Emhyr, he’ll agree to send you troops — provided that Morvran Voorhis is allowed to lead them. You won’t agree to this, and Emhyr won’t back down, so you won’t get anything from him.

Novigrad

Skellige

  • Cerys / Hjalmar. You’ll have to talk to both of Crach’s children, but you’ll only be able to recruit Hjalmar. To get him, you’ll have to complete the quests PossessionThe Lord of UndvikKing’s Gambit, and Coronation. It won’t make any difference which of the siblings you pick to rule Skellige.
  • Crach. You won’t be able to recruit Crach, but he’ll help you out by giving you a leveled version of the steel sword Winter’s Blade.
  • Ermion. You won’t need to complete a quest to recruit Ermion. He’ll always join you.

Velen
