Blood on the Battlefield – Witcher 3 Quest

This guide is a walkthrough of a main quest of the Witcher 3 in the area of Kaer Morhen. The guide is composed of a map, map legend, and walkthrough to show readers exactly where to go and what to do to complete the quest.

Walkthrough

This quest is basically just an extended cutscene. When you leave Vesemir’s funeral pyre and return to Kaer Morhen, you’ll start a strategy discussion with Avallac’h, Ciri, Triss and Yennefer. Triss and Yennefer will decide to seek out the help of the Lodge of Sorceresses, while Avallac’h will volunteer to train Ciri to better control her powers, to prevent another magical outburst like the one that almost destroyed Kaer Morhen.

Later, Ciri will get frustrated with her training, and you’ll have to calm her down. You’ll have two options for this: drinking or a snowball fight. For the drinking option you won’t have to do anything. For the snowball fight, you’ll need to hit her with eight snowballs before she can do the same to you. Each snowball you pick up will give you three shots, which you can “shoot” just like using your crossbow. The easiest way to win is to dodge around until Ciri bends down to pick up a snowball, and then hit her with one of your own. You won’t receive anything for winning (or losing) the fight.

The next morning, Ciri will reveal that she has her own plan for what to do next. She’ll tell you that Imlerith is going to be an honored guest of the Crones on Bald Mountain for their Sabbath, and that the two of you can ambush him there. You won’t get any choice in the matter; you’ll just agree to help.

On your way to Bald Mountain, you’ll be given the option of stopping off in Vizima so Emperor Emhyr can finally meet his daughter. Emhyr will offer you a reward for your efforts. If you accept it, then you’ll receive 2000 crowns, but Ciri won’t be happy with you. Ciri also won’t be happy with Emhyr, and she won’t agree to whatever designs he had worked out for her.

Completing this quest will earn you 1000 xp.
