Battlefield Loot – Witcher 3 Quest

This guide is a walkthrough of a side quest in the Witcher 3 for the area of Velen. The guide is composed of a map, map legend, and walkthrough to show readers exactly where to go and what to do to complete the quest.

1 – Corpses

Background

In Velen North you’ll find the corpses of a man and his dog (#1). Looting the Crumpled Notes and the key from the man will trigger this quest.

Walkthrough

When you read the notes, you’ll learn that the dog found a bloody sack with a key inside, and that the man decided to look for what the key opened up. If you turn on your witcher senses, then you’ll be able to follow the blood trail from the sack. It’ll take you to the southwest, where you’ll find a treasure chest hidden behind three barrels. To get to the chest, you’ll have to destroy the barrels using your weapon or the Aard sign. The chest will be random. Looting it will complete the quest.

Note: Complicating this quest, and the reason it’s rated level 20, is that you’ll have to deal with the level 18 bilge hag in the area. Hags aren’t too bad if you can avoid their spit, so if you’re good at dodging, then you should be able to complete this quest starting at around level 10.
