An Unfortunate Turn of Events – Witcher 3 Quest

This guide is a walkthrough of a side quest in the Witcher 3 for the area of Velen. The guide is composed of a map, map legend, and walkthrough to show readers exactly where to go and what to do to complete the quest.

Background

You’ll trigger this quest when you loot the corpse just to the east of Fireburst Harbor in Velen North (#1).

Walkthrough

The corpse will have an Unsent Letter in its possession. When you read the letter, you’ll learn that a treasure chest can be found in the water to the south (#2). You’ll have to deal with a couple of drowners in the area, but they should be easy to defeat with your crossbow. Inside the chest you’ll find a leveled version of the Harvall steel sword. Looting the chest will complete the quest.
