Torchlight Xbox 360 Reviews

I suppose it’s as good of a time as any to round up some more reviews for the newly released Xbox 360 port of Runic Games’ Torchlight.

Dealspwn gives it an 8/10:

Torchlight cherry-picks the best bits out of the genre to provide a streamlined experience that doesn’t scrimp on the content. It’s big, addictive and thoroughly worth your money. but it’s nowhere near as deep as its dungeons.

1UP gives it an “A-“:

What makes Torchlight great, though, isn’t the challenge; it’s the satisfaction that comes from uncovering a new piece of epic loot, unloading an explosive shot into an oncoming mob, or seeing your fame jump from “Remarkable” to “Local Legend.” Even without multiplayer, Torchlight makes for a remarkably entertaining 10 to 15 hours, with plenty more custom content to come thanks to the powerful game editor TorchED, which you can download free of charge. Even if you aren’t waiting impatiently for Diablo III, you should strongly consider picking up Torchlight. At a mere $20, it’s one of the best values of the year.

Games Are Evil gives it an “A”:

At its core, Torchlight on XBLA has taken everything that made the original so great and did the unthinkable: it actually made it BETTER for console. In an age of PC gamers with extreme superiority complexes, that may be a tough pill to swallow, but trust us, it is true. This is far and away the best XBLA release of the year and proves that Diablo COULD work on console. Let’s just hope the folks at Blizzard are paying attention, because Runic Games may have just beat them at their own game.

NXT Gamer gives it an 8.0/10:

Torchlight is a compelling and satisfying adventure, and its move to consoles has been handled brilliantly. It may be a tad repetitive, but amidst the ever-increasing quality titles on XBLA, Torchlight shines brightly.

And ThisIsXbox gives it an 8/10:

There are varied difficulty settings from easy to hard if you’re brave enough and determined to keep at it, but the majority of the Achievements are unlocked by beating the Bosses which naturally progress in difficulty to defeat the further into the adventure you are. Whilst the game is naturally addictive to play, it can at times get a little repetitive with the locations and the lack of multiplayer is disappointing since it would be far more fun to play or have your pet controlled by a friend. If you like to get your teeth stuck into a long challenging environment that requires you to hunt, wield you sword, throw your spells over enemies then this is the very Xbox LIVE Arcade game for you.
