Torchlight Reviews

Runic Games’ Torchlight continues to chalk up favorable review scores, with IGN, Strategy Informer, and MyGamer being the latest websites that have taken a closer look at the action RPG.

IGN goes with an 8.6/10:

All in all, Torchlight is a refreshing – though not revolutionary – dungeon crawler that will occupy gamers for 10-15 hours on the first run-through, and perhaps dozens more across varying difficulty levels and experiments with different character classes. The story is somewhat lacking, but not overly important when garnering quests and slaying beasts. You’ll quickly lose track of time whilst exploring the bowels of the town of Torchlight, which is lovely for your sense of satisfaction, but bad for the real life priorities you’ll likely neglect, such as eating and paying bills. The graphics are great, the music engrossing, and the gameplay addictive. While the lack of multiplayer at first tastes bitter, the single-player campaign more than makes up for it, as you really have little to lose at the meager asking price of $20.

Strategy Informer kicks out an 8.0/10:

Even without it though, Torchlight should hold a vast amount of appeal for many people. If you’ve been weaned on the likes of WoW and want something to take on the road: this is for you; and if you fell in love with Diablo or Titan Quest and want to sample the likely direction in which Diablo III will head: don’t hesitate, just buy. In fact, that holds true for all of you. Stop reading this, and go support one of the best PC games you’ll play this year.

And MyGamer deems it worthy of a 9.6/10:

Packing in the content tightly, and the asking price is pretty much perfect. While it does seem odd that there is some content that excluded it is really hard to pass up. At the moment, the game is only up for digital download but that shouldn’t really stop anyone that is reading this review online. The game is simply worth it, and PC gamers should definitely check it out.
