Pacta Sunt Servanda (Roche) – Witcher 2 Quest

Background

This quest is received during the quest The Messenger from the courier who stops you right at the exit of Kimbolt’s quarters.

Walkthrough

The courier (#1) suggested that you visit Baron Maravel as well before drawing any conclusions. Head to Maravel then and hear him out (#2).

Maravel will remind you of the thug that you met back when you talk to Kimbolt for the first time. He’ll suggest that he hired them for some dirty work and you should look into it by talking to the mercenary leader at #3. Head there and soon enough a group of Kimbolt’s own men will appear, trying to eliminate mercenaries.

Help the mercs out and you’ll learn all there is to know about Kimbolt. He had a plan to ransack the caravan with the noble children, but they were supposed to wait on the old route, which was of course empty because the orders were changed in the meantime with a forged letter. Tell the mercenary leader that he should report to John Natalis what he knows. You should also head back to Maravel in order to continue solving the enigma.

After talking to him, you’ll have irrefutable evidence that Kimbolt wanted Boussy and Anais dead. However, you shouldn’t head to Natalis immediately if you didn’t explore the other side of the story as well, quest – The Messenger.
