Act II Introduction / Iorveth’s Side – Witcher 2 Overview

This page is an introduction outlining the second act in Witcher 2 for Iorveth’s side. It gives readers an understanding of the act openers, main quests, side quests, how it ends. It will also give a rough idea of how to proceed through the act.

Welcome to Act II on Iorveth’s side! You’ll be lifting the curse from the Pontar Valley as well as learning a bit more about what happened to Triss. Along the way, you’ll also cure Saskia, who’s been poisoned during a war council meeting.

Before all that, you’ll be playing prince Stennis who’s on his way to meet with Aedirn nobility. After negotiations, a fight will ensue and that’s when Henselt will invoke a terrible curse (after smashing that priest’s head due to being enraged from the outcome of his duel with Saskia).

Right in the nick of time, Geralt and Iorveth arrive and defend the wounded prince from the onslaught of wraiths and restless ghosts with the help of Philippa Eilhart, one of the most powerful sorceresses alive. After getting back to the camp and once the situation settles down, you’ll be free to do the quests as you please (after you complete The War Council), and as always there’s a recommended list for them assorted in a way to grant fluid questing process.

Act openers:
Prelude to War: Aedirn
The War Council

Subterranean Life
Hey, Work’s on in the Mines (during Subterranean Life)

A Sackful of Fluff

Start with:

finish Where is Triss Merigold? (and Royal Blood, depending on your previous actions)

The following quests will wrap the second act:
A Matter of Life and Death
Hatred Symbolized
The Eternal Battle

The act ends with:
Vergen Besieged

As far as equipment goes, one of the best steel swords is sold by the Mysterious Merchant (Poisoned Zerrikanian Saberra, withthe best being Gwyhyr, the reward from Baltimore’s Nightmare) and the best silver sword seems to be Blood Sword, found in the tunnels during the quest Vergen Besieged. As far as armors go, the best one you can get is either Dragon Scale Armor (bought from Mael) or Armor of Loc Muinne, found during the last phases of the Where is Triss Merigold? quest.
Have fun questing!
