Rumbler

system shock 2 enemy rumbler

Enemy – Half-Annelids

Attributes: Very high Hit Points, very high damage, medium attack speed, fast movement speed
Weakness: Anti-Personnel Bullets and Shells, incendiary damage
Common Loot:
Rumbler Organ

Strategy: Rumbers are very intimidating, and you’ll likely be caught off guard when fighting your first in Athletics. Although engaging one at close range isn’t at all advisable unless you’re heavily armored, and melee combat with them is more trouble than it’s worth unless you’ve got Adrenaline Overproduction switched on, when faced at range with some of the higher-level weaponry, they aren’t so bad. A few Fragmentation Grenades, four or five Anti-Personnel Bullets from the Assault Rifle, or the anti-Annelid settings on some of the game’s Exotic weapons should dispose of them without excessive trouble. Psi-only players should stick to using invisibility, however, as even the best Psi attacks are too weak to do much good.

The ultimate in Annelid-human hybrids, the Rumbler is the biggest, meanest, and one of the toughest enemies you’ll encounter in System Shock 2. Built to be both the most powerful enforcers and most capable defenders in the Many’s army, Rumblers are dangerous when fought in single combat, and extremely difficult to deal with in numbers. You’ll first find one in the Athletics sector of Recreation, serving as the “boss” of the deck, and they’ll become more and more frequent as the game goes on, to the point where you’ll be fighting as many as four or five at once in the last stages.
