Grub Pod

system shock 2 enemy grubpod

Enemy – Annelids

Attributes: Low Hit Points
Weakness: Anti-Personnel Bullets and Shells, incendiary damage
Common Loot:
Grub Pod Organ (when destroyed), Annelid Healing Gland, and Annelid Psi Organ (when searched)

Strategy: Grub Pods don’t directly represent a threat to you, but their frequency makes them a common sight, as you’ll need to waste quite a bit of ammo on them throughout the game. Avoid getting close, as using a melee weapon risks releasing the Grubs inside. It’s generally more economical to search them before destroyed, however; they behave like containers and often hold Annelid Healing Glands, which more than serve as compensation for killing off the grubs inside.

All life starts out in the womb, and for the Many, that means egg pods used to breed their young. Grub Pods hold a number of Annelid Grubs, which are released when approached; the Annelid Grubs then instantly attack, intent on infecting the intruder and turning him or her into an unwilling host. Grub Pods are numerous, especially on Hydroponics, and appear throughout most of the game.
Swarm Pods and Toxic Pods are related enemies; please see their respective pages for more details.
