Stray Difficulty & Time to Beat

In this article, we’ll discuss Stray’s difficulty, and how long it will take the average player to complete the game.

Is Stray Hard?

The short answer is no, Stray is not a difficult game. However, whether or not you find Stray challenging will naturally depend on what you’re comfortable with in games.

Throughout the game, there are sections where you can die to enemies. You usually restart fairly close to where you died, but these sections might be challenging if you aren’t comfortable using a gamepad or mouse and keyboard. Still, anyone who has beaten other action adventure games shouldn’t find Stray’s action sequences too difficult.

Stray also includes a number of puzzles. Most of these are environmental, and aren’t very difficult. However, there are a couple of puzzles that require you to complete a very specific series of steps, and these can be quite challenging if you aren’t familiar with the way that puzzles in adventure games are usually structured. Luckily, we’ve got guides on all of Stray’s trickiest puzzles (plus a complete walkthrough) if you get stuck!

Time to Beat Stray

It can take up to 8-10 hours to complete Stray, depending on if you search every nook and cranny and speak with every NPC. Players who go through games as quickly as possible will likely be able to complete the game in 5 hours or less, however. Additionally, there is an achievement for beating Stray in under 2 hours, so clearly it’s possible to beat it that quickly if you’re so inclined – and you already know how to solve the puzzles.
