Beyond Skyrim Offers A Whole New World To Explore

Beyond Skyrim Bruma

Beyond Skyrim promises a whole new world of adventure…

Skyrim fans take heart. Even though Bethesda officially killed any hope of new downloadable content for their award winning game, the modding community has been very busy of late. In January I reported on the Skywind project and its aspirations to totally recreate the world of Morrowind with the Skyrim game engine (in case you missed the Skywind article you can check it out here). Now the gaming community is being told that the first installment of a separate project called Beyond Skyrim is close to completion and will be available to play this summer.

What Is Beyond Skyrim?

Beyond Skyrim is a very ambitious project involving several modding teams working towards creating all the Tamriel provinces in Skyrim. The project is different from Skywind insofar as it’s not attempting to recreate a previous game (Morrowind), but rather is creating the provinces as they would appear during the time of the Dragonborn. Beyond Skyrim promises to allow players to use their Skyrim character to explore new cities, interact with NPCs, undertake new quests, and  join new guilds.

The first province being tackled is the Imperial homeland of Cyrodiil, last seen in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Beyond Skyrim: Cyrodiil – The Seat of Sundered Kings is actively being worked on, and gamers will get a taste of the mod this summer with the release of Beyond Skyrim: Bruma.

Beyond Skyrim: Bruma

Beyond Skyrim: Bruma will allow the Dragonborn to explore the northernmost town of Cyrodiil. The mod is slated for a summer 2014 release, and will offer Skyrim players:

  • New quests
  • New dungeons
  • An original soundtrack
  • Full voice acting

The mod is a smaller part of the Beyond Skyrim: Cyrodiil project, and the modding team responsible has released a teaser video on YouTube in order to build excitement and showcase the hard work that has already gone into the project. The video looks amazing, and if this is what Skyrim fans can expect from the rest Beyond Skyrim, we won’t be disappointed.

Final Thoughts

Beyond Skyrim is a worthwhile and exciting project, and is sure to gain the support of Skyrim fans everywhere. Creating all the provinces of Tamriel is a huge undertaking, and most likely will take years to complete. With that said, gamers are in for a treat this summer, and I for one can’t wait to play the first installment of this incredible project.
