While missing some staples of a typical RPG, Long Gone Days is a great game, with a grounded story that effectively showcases the effects war can have on people.

It sets out to do something and it does it amazingly. Between its wonderful artstyle, engaging puzzle-like scenarios, and surprisingly sharp-toothed narrative, The Fabulous Fear Machine is a fantastic, spooky outing from Fictiorama that is happy to be pulpy.

Houston, we have a winner. This game's incredible, and if you like roguelites or management sims, pick it up pronto.

Building on classic roots and updating it with modern gameplay, presentation, and progression, Double Dragon Gaiden is an absolutely fantastic beat 'em up. Near-perfect from start to finish, it is a polished example of just how much you can do with a retro property when you're willing to innovate and modernize the rock-solid core.

Jagged Alliance 3 both fails to meaningfully modernize into a post-new-XCOM world, but it also fails to capture what made Jagged Alliance 2 special. It would be by the numbers and inoffensive, though, if not for a handful of very frustrating design decisions. While there are strengths, the flaws outweigh them.

A solid action platformer that actually understays its welcome, Nocturnal's unique fire mechanics and excellent art elevate what is an otherwise standard entry in the genre.

A sequel to a cult-classic, Do Not Feed the Monkeys 2099 just repeats everything its predecessor did, but does it worse. Mediocre writing is its biggest flaw, but a repetitive and boring gameplay loop cements a dull, forgettable experience.
