The Gilded Vale – Pillars of Eternity Quest

Walkthrough

This is mostly an overview quest. To reach Gilded Vale, you’ll have to complete the quests A Moment’s Respite and The Ruins of Cilant Lis, and you’ll have to make your way through Valewood.

Shortly after arriving in Gilded Vale, you’ll meet one of Lord Raedric’s representatives named Urgeat — and you’ll also spot a great tree filled with hanging corpses. Urgeat will give you some background information about Waidwen’s Legacy, which has caused babies to be born without a soul, and he’ll let you know that the people hanging from the tree are some of the “charlatans” who claimed they could cure it.

At the end of your conversation with Urgeat, you’ll hear three bells ring, which means that a Raedric just died. Urgeat will speculate that this means that Lord Raedric’s pregnant wife just gave birth to a soulless — or “hollowborn” — child, and that the child was promptly killed as a result. Learning this information will complete the quest.
