World of Warcraft Reviews

A trio of new reviews for Blizzard’s highly successful World of Warcraft surfaced on the web over the past several days. The first is at RPGFan with an overall score of 95%:

In conclusion, what could be said about the remarkable achievement Blizzard has made with the World of Warcraft? With fantastic art direction, technical stability, a compelling storytelling, addictive and enjoyable gameplay we have the recipe for success. One might even overlook the few glaring issues present with the audio in light of everything else the title achieves. I just hope that Blizzard remembers the throngs of casual players that brought them to this success at endgame.

The second is at Gameplay Monthly with an overall score of 8.4/10:

World of Warcraft is a great, but flawed MMORPG. Although it does have some solid game play fundamentals and is very easy to pick up, it does eventually turn into a masked, but endless grind with interspersed PVP. This is an immersive, all encompassing Warcraft adventure which will be sure to sap hours of your life. However, after a long time with this game, reality sets in and the grind becomes apparent. This game will leave you feeling empty and disappointed. For an experienced MMORPG player, this game will be a great short term experience, but in the end won’t really be worth your time. However, for a first timer in the genre, this game will be a great introduction especially if this game is played at a casual pace.

And the third is at Gamebiz with an overall score of 9.5/10:

For a reviewer to stop playing all other games for two months and play a game constantly every day clocking up nearly a month of game time, it must mean something. World of Warcraft is one of the best games ever made, and the experiences continue to amaze players throughout the whole game. Some people assume that when you reach level 60 that the game is over, this is as far from the truth as you can get. Once you reach level 60 you’re able to participate in the best instances which allow you to receive the best items to use or simply just to show off. If you’re tired of waiting for the next generation of game consoles, pick up WoW as it doesn’t matter what type of game you like, WoW is sure to find something that you can enjoy, and the monthly fee is incredibly reasonable for what you get out if it.
