Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls Reviews, DLC Available

We have two new reviews for ACQUIRE’s attempt at living up to the glorious Wizardry legacy, Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls, and they both seem to be favorable towards the game, although they note that it’s a title geared towards old-school players only.

First, Worthplaying, 7.0/10.

Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls is certainly fun, but it’s fun for a specific group of people. Those who love the old school of RPGs before they became more about the cinematics and fast-paced action will find a lot to like. It’s a classic Wizardry game through and through, almost unchanged from the older titles. In some ways, it feels even more archaic than titles like Etrian Odyssey or other dungeon-crawler titles. Archaic doesn’t mean bad, though. If you don’t enjoy the idea of wandering lost in a dungeon or spending hours puzzling over every bit of gameplay, then you’ll end up more frustrated than anything else. On the other hand, if a plot-light and exploration-heavy, old-school RPG tickles your fancy, then Wizardry is exactly the right game for you.

Then, Gaming Union, 7/10.

While most RPGs are trying to branch out into new horizons, Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls uncompromisingly sticks firmly to its guns. As such, Wizardry is a game that requires a fondness for the “good ol’ days” from players, or to be someone who wants to travel back in time to play the games their parents use to play. It won’t bring anyone new to the table but it does excel at what it does and for those who are interested that is all that matters.

Also it appears we missed the fact that a DLC expansion called “The Red Shadow of the Sister” has been made available on PSN for $7.99. I suppose that if you’re looking for more old-school dungeon crawling fun and enjoyed the title, this should be right up your alley.
