Where the World’s Best Indie Games Get Made

Ars Technica has put together an interesting, picture-laden, seven-page feature that’s sole intention is to showcase the offices and homes where “the world’s best indie games get made”. I’m not sure I would consider CD Projekt RED “indie”, but they’re listed alongside Zeboyd Games (Cthulhu Saves the World), Beamdog (is that RPG concept art on their wall?), Supercell (Gunshine.net), and Stardock (Elemental):

CD Projekt RED’s offices are located in Warsaw, in a building situated just four kilometers from the city’s historic Old Town. Naturally, the studio’s brick walls and its red doors and furniture are a tie-in to its name, though they also bring warmth to the interior, producing an atmosphere altogether different from that of standard office spaces.

Glass partitions further subdivide and organize the space, but they are also a convenience. After all, developing games requires team members to communicate constantly, and the interior facilitates just that. On the other hand, game creators are also individualists who sometimes need a bit of privacy to concentrate on a specific issue.
