Ultima VI Nuvie Version 4.0 Released

Ultima VI was released nearly twenty-five years ago, but that hasn’t stopped modders from working diligently on the game. Some of you might remember Ultima VI as one of the finest old-school RPGs ever made, but younger RPG fans might have trouble getting into the game due to its age. That has been made a bit easier to deal with thanks to the release of version 4.0 of Ultima VI Nuvie, a brand-new engine built for the game and featuring many enhancements over the original title, including full-screen display support and a better save system.

Of special note, the game is now fully playable from beginning to end with this release. Here’s the full change log:

  • New experimental fullscreen map mode. With gorgeous new art by Daniel c. Wurl.
  • New roof tile system with map editor.
  • Overhaul of interface logic with optional new U7 like interface. Removed lots of interface bugs.
  • Added key binding system for in-game commands from Exult.
  • Attack target memory
  • ‘˜command’ combat mode.
  • Loads of bug fixes
  • Loads of small improvements.

Ultima VI is currently available at GOG.com for the low price of $5.99 USD, along with Ultima IV and V as well, in case you have yet to explore Origin Systems’ classic series.
