TORN Dev Diary Volume 2

There’s another volume of the TORN Developer Diary over on GameSpy, posted by Brian Mitsoda of Black Isle Studios. A snippet to follow:

As I am currently writing characters for E3 (which will someday become the TORN demo), I’d thought I’d share some of the templates I use to inject personality into the characters, a kind of literary finger-paint set, where one smears the primary colors together to get different hues (though without a controlled environment, you usually end up with brown fingerprints all over mom’s walls, kitty’s face, and sis’s favorite toys).

Good, evil, and indifferent, intelligent and dim-witted, young and old, serious and carefree, truthful and deceptive, weak and powerful: these are the primary color traits that are swirled together to make a character’s personality, and their speech should be weighed properly to accentuate these traits.
