The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition Reviews

We have another batch of reviews for CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings – Enhanced Edition, mostly based on the Xbox 360 code, which when put together paint a very positive picture for the title.

IGN, 8.5/10.

In every significant way, The Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 is the same subversive and compelling fantasy that it was on the PC. There are some minor technical and graphical blemishes, but they don’t detract from what is one of the best RPGs of recent years, and the extra content adds value. This is an ambitious and absorbing game that’s not just superficially (adult), but genuinely mature.

Computer and Videogames, 9.2/10.

Gritty, sexy, vicious, sumptuous bastard of a role-player that in-between Mass Effect and The Elder Scrolls heralds an exciting third pathway for the genre

Final Boss Fight, 4.5/5.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition completely challenges storytelling in console RPGs and is a must buy for anyone who considers themselves a fan of the genre you need to make room for CD Projekt up there alongside Bethesda & Bioware, they may come later in the alphabet, but when it comes to storytelling and impact there could be a new leader entering the fray.

Made2Game, 10/10.

There’s a reason The Witcher 2 earned so many accolades upon its PC release in fact that are a score of reasons and each one is cast-iron. This is a game that deserves to be played by every fan of action, adventure, fantasy and role-playing, and might just have torn the crowned head from atop Skyrim’s mighty neck.

This is true gaming alchemy close your eyes, take a swallow of its unique brew, and allow The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings to completely intoxicate you. We guarantee you won’t experience a moment of regret.

GamingBolt, 9.5/10.

What else is there to talk about? The game’s soundtrack, which is incredible. Not like the wide, sweeping orchestral scores of Dragon Age, Zelda, or Skyrim, but rather a much more subdued and grim score that adds to and enhances the atmosphere of the game. The well done voice acting, which is without exception memorable. The dialog, which is sharp, crisp, and never redundant. The Witcher 2 is just a well made game all around, and it’s a game that makes no bones about what it is- a true, hardcore RPG, telling a grim, adult story about real people moved by real motivations, all inhabiting a very real world. The sex and gore is copious, and would, at first sight, attract the mainstream gamer, but a few minutes will almost certainly turn the mainstream gamer away as he returns to play Skyrim or Call of Duty. The Witcher 2 is a game that means business, and it brings its A game. It is unyielding, and makes no exceptions and compromises. If you are to play it, you better bring your A game along too. If you do, however, prepare to be rewarded with what is undoubtedly the best RPG to ever have appeared on a console.
