The Lord of the Rings Online Reviews

Two more reviews of Turbine’s The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar bring us into the weekend. The first is at MPOGD.com with an overall score of 8.4/10:

Overall, I was very pleased with my experience playing LOTRO. I was pleasantly surprised at some of the features I found that I’d not seen in prior MMOs. This bodes well for the developers at Turbine – it shows that they can bring some unique qualities to a market already inundated with online games. They have a content patch already planned for June 2007, which has some enhancements to the existing infrastructure, as well as some new quest and storyline content. If that is any indication of what is to come, I think that Lord of the Rings Online has the potential for longevity in the gaming community. It sure is a boatload of fun to play and explore an already familiar world. I’d recommend giving it a try – you won’t be disappointed.

While the other is at Gaming Illustrated with an overall score of 94%:

Although we are only at level 14 with our character, we can say that LOTR Online is just a plain FUN game to play. The quests are pretty varied so far, and the graphics and environment of Middle Earth, coupled together with the overall theme of the War for the One Ring makes this the most gratifying MMORPG we’ve played to date. There’s a fantastic community of players online that are willing to help newbies, as well as plenty of sites with huge databases full of information if you get stuck. Although we plan to report in once a month from LOTR Online, we can say after playing it for a few weeks that this is the definitive new MMORPG to play in 2007.
