The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Reviews

A trio of new reviews for Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion bring the weekend to a close. The first is at Talk Xbox with an overall score of 9.6/10:

If you own an Xbox 360, and the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is not in your collection yet, immediately stop reading and run to your nearest retailer and pick this one up. Its gameplay, graphics, and auditory value are all off the chain. In addition, its replayability will provide hundreds of hours of wholesome fun. My only personal complaint is this: due to the immense worlds, obscene amounts of terrain, and overall hugeness of this software, I found myself becoming nauseated and oftentimes lightheaded and dizzy. You’ve been warned.

The second is at RPGCodex with no overall score:

Now, the main question is “Would you like Oblivion?). If you are ok with the flaws I mentioned above, and if a mix of a shooter with stats and an adventure game where you follow several linear storylines without much input from you appeals to you, then get the game right now and have fun. If you would rather play a well done action game, or a well done Thief-type game, or a well done RPG than a game featuring a poorly implemented mix of all 3, then play something else, because you won’t enjoy what Oblivion has offer.

And the third is at Guru3D with no overall score:

Well what can I say (apart from the fact I’m running on a caffeine overload!). This game is by far the most immersive and detailed experience to ever have graced the PC. This is true on many different levels. From the glorious freedom, to the jaw dropping graphics or the engaging quests and story line, The Elder Scrolls Oblivion brings not just the RPG Genre, but the world of gaming to a new level. The fact that a developer can make a commercial success of such a detailed and broad game is truly magnificent considering the climate we live in of quick commercial movie cash-ins or instant gratification FPS type game play that outnumber this kind of game by at least 10-1.
