Telepath Tactics January Update

Telepath Tactics, an indie tactical turn-based RPG from Sinister Design, is now essentially feature and content complete, we learn from a monthly update on the developer’s website. In practice, this means that the remaining time before the project’s release will be spent on polishing the game, fixing bugs and tweaking the game’s mechanics.

The full update over at Sinister Design’s website offers a very thorough description of the work that has been done on the game since January. I’ll quote a few of the features that strike me as most noteworthy, from the perspective of someone who has barely spent any time with the title:

I went through and polished up the game’s final half-dozen or so battles, adding in dialog and scripted AI behavior, as well as doing some much-needed balancing work. Consequently, the end-game is now much better than it was when it existed in rough form at the end of December.

I finished writing and implementing all of the game’s major remaining cut scenes, added a couple of new merchant scenes, and wrapped up all of the death monologues that remained to be written.

created a rough draft of the two islands where the main campaign takes place: Skolika and Kovit.

I wrote the main campaign’s ending. It changes based upon which characters you’ve recruited and kept alive throughout the game!

I created the end credits sequence.

Given review copies are supposed to go out in a couple of weeks, it looks like the game is on track for its planned mid-March release date, which was announced back in January. It’s been almost two years since the successful conclusion of the game’s Kickstarter campaign and three years since the original announcement, but it looks like the tactically-focused RPG is finally going to see a proper full release very soon.
