System Shock Live-Action Series Announced

While Nightdive Studios’ Remastered Edition of the original System Shock is still nowhere to be seen, over five years after the project was successfully funded on Kickstarter, the studio has now apparently turned its attention to the small screen. As a result, according to this Deadline article, there’s now a System Shock TV series in the works.

And while usually such tie-ins have very little chance of actually seeing the light of day, the fact that it’s being produced as a launch title for Binge, a new streaming platform aimed at gamers, the likelihood of at least something being made (before the platform joins the other casualties of streaming wars) goes up a bit.

Here’s a quick comment from Nightdive’s Stephen Kick and you take it from there:

Nightdive’s Stepehn Kick and Larry Kuperman will serve as executive producers and Binge’s Chief Content Officer Allan Ungar will produce.

“I’ve always believed that a live action adaptation of System Shock would be the perfect medium to retell the harrowing story of Citadel station and its rogue AI that subjects the crew to unimaginable horror,” added Kick. “We’re very excited to see the talented team at Binge bring System Shock to life in horrifyingly real and new ways.”
