System Shock: Enhanced Edition Released on GOG

After getting Irrational Games’ sequel on GOG and Steam, the folks at Night Dive Studios have managed to bring the original Looking Glass System Shock on the GOG store too, for €8.99/$9.99. Right now the game is 20% off to celebrate launch, though the discount can go as low as 40% off if you already own System Shock 2, which brings the price down to either €7.19/$7.99 or â‚¬5.39/$5.99.

The release of the game on an official and supported distribution channel would be cause for celebration by itself, but the game has also received a series of upgrades that make it more palatable in 2015, including mouselook support and higher resolutions, which is why the folks at Night Dive Studios have released it as System Shock: Enhanced Edition:

System Shock: Enhanced Edition features:
– Higher resolution support: up to 1024×768, and 854×480 widescreen mode.
– Mouselook support added.
– Remappable keys with three profiles to choose from: original controls, custom controls, and lefthanded controls.
– Some original game bugs fixed.

Should you be a purist, the original version of the game is also included in the package. On the other hand, if you are a complete newbie to the series, both titles are bundled together for the same price as the separate releases, right down to the discounts.

Here’s the trailer, which mixes the slightly spruced up gameplay with old-school FMV cutscenes:
