Risen 3: Titan Lords Receives Graphical Enhancement Patch on PC

When Piranha Bytes announced the Enhanced Edition of Risen 3: Titan Lords for PlayStation 4, they promised improved visuals across the board even over the original PC version of the game, but did not explain whether PC players would get access to those improved visuals. Today, the Risen 3: Titan Lords team announced on Steam a new patch that will implement all the new graphical effects on PC for free, provided you own a 64-bit OS.

Owners of the game on a 32-bit OS will only get the new patch should they upgrade to a 64-bit OS. That said, both versions are compatible in terms of DLC and saves, so we’re really only dealing with a few graphical improvements:

– Improved texture resolution for items, objects, foliage, terrain, particle effects, characters, monsters and other in-game models.
– Improved draw distance & viewing ranges
– Larger caches leading to smoother frame-rates & less LOD streaming
– The introduction of new state of the art post-process effects such as bokeh depth of field and HDR bloom
– Addition of a new physically based, more visually realistic cloud rendering technique that adds even more spectacular skies and sunsets to the dynamic day-night cycles.
