Rend Begins First Public Alpha Test

A couple of days ago Rend, the faction-based survival game developed by Frostkeep Studios opened up their public PC Alpha test. Frostkeep Studios may have a new name but it is filled with experienced developers who’ve worked tirelessly on games such as World of Warcraft, Overwatch, League of Legends, and WildStar.

Epic fantasy adventure meets team-based survival in Rend. Set in the fabled universe of Nordic myth, the world of Rend is a harsh domain where the strong ascend as gods. Players must choose among three rival factions, combine forces to build their faction’s stronghold, and battle foes and brutal creatures. Together, they will endure the dangers of Rend’s treacherous landscapes to discover valuable resources and powerful artefacts. With the game’s deep talent trees and skill systems, players have the freedom to choose how they want to play and how they want to fight. When a cycle ends, one faction will be declared the winner… but the end is only the beginning. Victorious players receive rewards they can use in later cycles.

Rend Environment 5

Rend takes several gaming elements from several different genres and squashes them all together to produce what Frostkeep Studios are claiming to be “a survival experience never seen before”. Rend introduces factional combat, RPG mechanics, sandbox elements, win/loss conditions, and massive, culmination battle experiences that evolve and expand the RPG genre.

All you have to do to be in with a chance is to register on www.rendgame.com. If luck is on your side, you may well be picked and given the opportunity to provide direct feedback to the developers and fundamentally help to shape the game as it progresses through the stages of testing.

“Our goal at the start of this project was to continuously grow and improve Rend by gathering direct feedback from our players every step of the way,” said Jeremy Wood, co-founder and CEO, Frostkeep Studios. “As we lovingly craft this game with the help of our players, this project remains just as much theirs as it is ours, and this public alpha marks a significant milestone as we offer even more players around the world the opportunity to enter the world of *Rend *and join our community.”

Rend will launch on Steam Early Access later this year. If you want more information check out Rends Official Steam page.
