Peter Molyneux Knighted

GameDaily BIZ is reporting that Lionhead Studios’ Peter Molyneux was knighted by the French government on March 12th. It’s nice to see that he’s receiving some recognition, but given the fact that he’s not even a citizen of France, I’m not sure why they chose him for the honor.

Peter Molyneux, head of Lionhead Studios (which was acquired by Microsoft in April 2006) and one of the true visionaries in the video game industry, has been honored by the French government, which has bestowed upon him the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (The Knighthood in the Order of Arts and Letters). The lauded game designer responsible for such games as Populous, Black & White and Fable was presented with his medallion on March 12 by Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, the French Minister for Culture, during a ceremony at the Ministry of Culture in Paris.
