Pete Hines Comments on Bethesda-Mojang’s ‘Scrolls’ Legal Controversy

The latest chapter of the Mojang vs. Bethesda legal controversy on the indie-developed upcoming ‘Scrolls’ title comes via an article written by Kotaku who managed to get some comments from Markus ‘Notch’ Persson and VP of PR and Marketing at Bethesda Pete Hines. It’s the first time the latter commented on the case so far, and likely the last, which makes it all the more notable, and he has something pretty interesting to say:

“This is a business matter based on how trademark law works and it will continue to be dealt with by lawyers who understand it, not by me or our developers,” Said Pete Hines, VP at Bethesda, highlighting exactly what makes this case so complex.

“Mojang’s public comments have not given a complete picture as it relates to their filings, our trademarks, or events that have taken place,” said Hines.

“Nobody here enjoys being forced into this,” said Hines. “Hopefully it will all be resolved soon.”
