Paranoia: Happiness is Mandatory PC RPG Dev Diary

The tabletop RPG game, known as Paranoia first published in 1984 is getting its own video-game adaptation under the careful hands of Bigben Interactive, Black Shamrock and Cyanide Studio. The game is set in a dystopian future, controlled by an AI construct known as The Computer (or Friend Computer) that watches diligently for anyone who may be subverting the system or performing treasonous acts such as not following the ridiculous and often contradictory missions the computer hands out to its operatives.

Within Paranoia: Happiness is Mandatory you control a team of four troubleshooters of highly questionable loyalty, who will obey orders from Friend Computer. Well, if they want to, or can’t get away with not doing so. Who long can your troubleshooters survive, and what will they have to do to make it through the next order.

The developers have worked hard to maintain the ethos and tone of the original table-top game, and it’s clearly shown within the developer diary. As well as the challenges the developers encounter with adapting the tabletop game, the combat system. And the unique gameplay style.

Paranoia: Happiness is Mandatory is due for release on PC, on October 3rd 2019, with a later date planned for console release.
