Neal Hallford Interview Part II

Part II of GameSpy’s interview with Neal Hallford is online, providing some more insight on the world that Dungeon Siege is set in. Here’s a snippet:

GameSpy: If you could start over, is there anything you would change or modify? What do you think makes this world the most interesting?

Neal Hallford: The only thing I would wish for is that I’d had more time to sync up with the other team members at GPG. I had to hit the ground running on this project, and that didn’t allow me much time to roundtable ideas. On the one hand it’s great to be given pretty much carte blanche to do whatever I wanted with the story, but the downside is that what I created had to lock in with what the design teams were doing, and that wasn’t always simple. I couldn’t just cruise over to the next cubicle and say, “I’m thinking of putting a packmule into the backstory. Can you build me a thirty foot high statue of a donkey near the entrance to the Glitterdelve?” and so forth. Something like that takes a lot more time when you’re working via the Internet.
