Morrowind Interview with Matt Fridley

Surely one of the last interviews before the game releases, GamingGroove takes short hand in a new interview with Matt Fridley of Bethesda. Here’s what they were jabberin’ about:

Q: How would you describe the gameplay in the words of your own personal experience playing the game?

A: It’s the ultimate “go-anywhere, do-anything” RPG. People who want to play a more structured and linear game can do that. People who want to wander around, join a faction, and improve their character without attempting the main quest will have a great time as well.

Q: Any chance that you will license the engine out to other developers who may be interested in it? As it is, the engine looks super-spiffy, and I can’t imagine why other developers wouldn’t want to use it, especially in games where models and open-ended environments may be a top priority.

A: The rendering engine isn’t ours, it’s licensed from NDL. Games like Dark Age of Camelot and Abe’s Oddyssey use the same engine we do.
