Might & Magic X: Legacy Open Development Blog and Video

Ubisoft’s official Might & Magic X: Legacy website is now featuring an “open development” blog that has already been updated with a fistful of new entries to complement a brand new video that encourages us to “join the quest” to get behind-the-scenes access, become privy to exclusive information, communicate with fans, and more. Let’s begin with the video:

And then I’ll quote a little from this blog entry that seeks to explain why the team is developing a new party-based RPG within the venerable series in the first place:

What is MMX about?

An RPG like they used to be but better!

Might & Magic X Legacy is a first person, party-based 3D RPG, with a true (retro-feel).

With tile-based movement and turn-based combat, MMX is along the same lines of the early Might & Magic games, but is updated to today’s standards of accessibility.

When starting out this project, we took a close look at fan comments and shaped the early designs accordingly.

The main components of the game were shaped together with Ubisoft, which are:
– Control party
– Explore world
– Fight enemies
– Epic adventure

Plus, after researching and analysing lots of fan comments, we added the following aspects:
– Tier-based skill system
– Embedding the epic adventure in a nice story line
– Non-linear world/dungeons
– Turn based fight system

What made previous Might & Magic RPGs so great?

And which of the features that many fans liked so much will make it into MMX? Here are some examples:
– Ambience & atmosphere in a free open world
– Party management
– Interacting with the environment
– (Who will?) questions
– Riddles
