More on that:

Since its initial release in 1993, Magic: The Gathering has captivated the hearts of fans worldwide with an expansive Multiverse that now encompasses more than 200 unique card sets and novels. Over the course of this journey, fans have followed as Planeswalkers travel to countless planes of existence, each with its own deep history, diverse inhabitants, and varied themes. This year, the release of Magic: Legends will empower fans both new and old alike to become the Planeswalker of their dreams and experience that expansive Multiverse for themselves like never before!

Planeswalkers are powerful individuals with a Spark that enables them to travel between planes of existence, allowing them to experience these many worlds and cultures through times of both peace and conflict. Magic: Legends puts the power of this Spark at your fingertips with multiple planes available at launch.

Without further ado, let’s talk about the planes you can expect to see at launch!

DOMINARIA

Dominaria once stood as the nexus of the Multiverse, but it continues to be one of the largest and most varied planes in the history of Magic: The Gathering. It was the site of many great historical conflicts and cataclysmic events that laid ruin to its once great civilizations. However, after an era of strife, The Great Mending has led to an age of renewal. New centers of population have risen from the destruction in locations like New Benalia and Tolaria West.

ZENDIKAR

A plane of high adventure and untold dangers, Zendikar was almost lost to ancient, mana-devouring creatures called the Eldrazi. These creatures were thwarted by a group of Planeswalkers collectively known as The Gatewatch, but the plane’s landscape continues to shift and change via a process the planebound inhabitants refer to as ‘The Roil’. Because of this, civilizations are scarce, and nature has reclaimed many of Zendikar’s continents, such as Tazeem.

INNISTRAD

Innistrad stands apart as a plane of gothic horror and dark intrigue. The world’s denizens are perpetually bathed in eerie moonlight and preyed upon by Vampires, werewolves, and other terrifying creatures that dominate the land. The province of Gavony serves as one of the few safe havens where people band together to survive.

Position in the Multiverse

Following years and months of narrative planning, we are excited to confirm that Magic: Legends takes place in a time of building tensions: after the Great Mending of Dominaria, and before the Hour of Devastation on Amonkhet. While we will not go into the full details of the game’s story here in this blog, you will get to experience it firsthand as you play through Magic: Legends. We can hardly wait for you to Planeswalk into the Multiverse for the first time and this is just the beginning. We will be traveling to many different planes and regions following the full launch later this year.
