Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Preview

TheInGamer has a new preview for 38 Studios’s debut title Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, albeit it doesn’t really seem to contain any new information. Should still serve as a good refresher:

The (action) part of the action-RPG label comes from the combat system. Rather than hotkeying all of your spells or abilities, the maneuvers you perform can be affected by the timing of your attack button which will lead to results like combos or juggling your opponents in the air. Using your shield for a successfully-timed parry can throw your opponent off-balance and open him up to even more devastating attack sequences. Even the most dedicated melee combatants will have access to magical boosts and special attacks to help even the odds against vicious and gruesome foes. Actively dodging your opponent’s attacks and developing different tactics and strategies will help you succeed more than your total HP or armor, and once you land enough attacks you build up energy to launch a devastating (fate shift) attack.
