Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich Preview

VideoGamesLife has dished up a one-page preview of Irrational Games’ upcoming superhero RPG sequel. Check it out:

On first glance, it may seem the graphics engine is virtually the exact same one utilised in the last adventure. Closer inspection does reveal that only the 1960s comic-book style is retained, with every character, item and building all receiving a massive polygon increase. What really helped convey the huge strength some of your heroes was the deformable environment. For example, Man-Bot could easily smash a tower block to smithereens with just a few punches, while cars and lampposts could be uprooted and thrown or used as clubs at a potential enemy. This has been taken a stage further in the sequel, as seizing a street-lamp at night will now bathe that section of street in darkness, to hide from a powerful enemy or even approach another stealthily; in fact, pretty much every item that you encounter on your travels can be used in some way. Manhole covers can be ripped up and tossed at a baddie. Vehicles no longer are the playthings of the super-strong; for certain types can be entered and driven towards enemy lines. A useful tool for those heroes not blessed with flight, and can also be utilised as an offensive weapon. Tanks are rumoured to appear, too.
