Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich Diary #6

IGN PC continues their Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich diary series, this time with Irrational Games’ Robb Waters taking the helm and discussing his love of comics. Here’s a little something to get you started:

It was the few science fiction pieces within my graduating portfolio that landed me my first job. I answered an advertisement for an artist position within a computer game company. I loved working for Looking Glass Technologies, where I created a number of characters for System Shock and Thief. However, that nagging regret that I still had never made it into the comic book industry still loomed over me. When I learned about Irrational’s upcoming superhero game, it was too good to be true. “Artist needed for a role-playing game paying homage to the silver age of comics,” the opening said. I was all over it. From early character conception to belting out over the top heroic lines, I have loved every moment of working on this game. I can’t think of a better medium to express my life-long love of comic books and heroes. Freedom Force has really been a dream come true for me. I still don’t really consider myself a comic book artist, but it’s the next best thing, for sure.
