Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone Interview

GameSpy has conducted an interview with Stomfront Studios’ Don Daglow, asking the company’s CEO four pages of questions about the characters in Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone. Here’s a bit to get you started:

Q: Did you create the characters with Forgotten Realms in mind, or did you make them first and fit them into the world?

A: Very much with the Realms in mind, in the context of all the factors discussed above. One great moment was a brainstorming session where Salvatore and the leaders of the creative crafts (design, art, tech, and audio) were developing all sorts of options for the game. Salvatore suddenly looked around the table and said, “What if our rogue were half-Drow? That would open up all sorts of character and story possibilities, since it’s an almost-impossible combination. And it gives us interesting ways to include Drizzt [his hugely popular Drow character] in the game.

All the team members were very excited about this idea, and Zhai was “born” at that moment. The same thing happened several other times that day, and each time the ideas came from different people. That teamwork made this project especially fulfilling to work on.
