Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone Diary #1

RPGVault has published their first Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone diary, with design director J Epps describing Stormfront Studios’ goals for the Dungeons & Dragons title. Check it out:

While we were working on the story, we were also working on the gameplay. In thinking about this aspect, we wanted something fresh and innovative that would support the feeling of living in the vibrant fantasy world of the Forgotten Realms. After talking and discussing the heart of D&D, we came to the conclusion that it is about a party. From this, we determined that the key experience we wanted the user to have was that they were “playing a party” – giving them a choice between characters, where the player could actually play any one of the heroes at any time.

This lined up well with our goals after finishing The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. In that game, the player could control one character at a time, and we wanted to place multiple characters under player control.
