Fallout 76: Steel Dawn Update Overview

Steel Dawn, the latest Fallout 76 content update, launched slightly ahead of schedule, which resulted in a somewhat rushed release announcement. As a result, we can now check out this article on the game’s website that outlines the updates’ key features, promotes the special Deluxe Edition, and shares a proper launch trailer and a couple of developer-narrated videos.

So, here’s the trailer:

And the text parts:

The Brotherhood of Steel has come to Appalachia in Fallout 76’s latest free expansion. In Steel Dawn, you will join forces with Paladin Leila Rahmani and help the Brotherhood gain a foothold in this wild wasteland. Join their mission to rebuild society and aid in securing valuable technology. Steel Dawn is the first part of the Brotherhood of Steel story and it includes a brand new questline that will take you to new locations, introduce you to new NPCs, and gear you up with new weapons and armor from the Brotherhood of Steel armory. This new expansion is free for all Fallout 76 owners, and also includes a new C.A.M.P. Shelters system, which will allow you to expand your C.A.M.P. like never before. Steel Dawn is available to play now.

Learn more about Steel Dawn and Shelters below.

STEEL DAWN

The Brotherhood has arrived in Appalachia looking to establish a new chapter under the guidance of Paladin Leila Rahmani, and it’s up to you to help them succeed. You will need to work with (or against) other Factions in the area in order to see the Brotherhood’s goals through. In addition to a brand new story to follow, you’ll also meet a new cast of characters and deck yourself out in a new Brotherhood of Steel themed set of gear. You will be able to begin this new storyline once you’ve hit level 20.

C.A.M.P. SHELTERS

Also coming in the Steel Dawn expansion are C.A.M.P. Shelters, which is an extension of the C.A.M.P. system that will let you build and decorate your own underground instanced interiors. Think: Vaults that you can build onto your C.A.M.P. These Shelters will be separate from your main C.A.M.P. and can be accessed when you complete a new quest called “Home Expansion,” which can be found on a poster at any train station in the game. Once you complete the introductory quest you’ll receive your first Shelter for free, with additional layouts available for purchase through the Atomic Shop.

Initial Shelters will have a Vault theme, with plans for other themes down the road. Shelters are made up of a series of unique room types, including a Utility Room, Atrium, and Lobby, with more on the way. There are some differences between building in your C.A.M.P. and building in your Shelter. Workshop budgets are slightly increased inside Shelters, but there are specific types of items – like resource generators and display cases – that cannot be built in your Shelter. In order to access your Shelter, you’ll need to place an entrance in your C.A.M.P., and you can place multiple entrances if you choose.
