EA GamesCom Press Conference Notes

Voodoo Extreme has kicked up some notes from EA’s GamesCom press conference, including a few interesting details about BioWare’s Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 2, and Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Dragon Age: Origins

‘¢ Follows great games like Baldur’s Gate, in a way a traditional RPG. But breaking from tradition by introducing origin stories to customize your experience right from the start, bringing in Wardens, and adding consequences.
‘¢ No two players will have the same experience.
‘¢ Collector’s Edition will include new playable character and armour which can be used in both Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2.

Mass Effect 2

‘¢ The dark second chapter, find out why humans are missing throughout the galaxy, deep RPG.
‘¢ Takes a quantum leap in action and Gamescom attendees will be able to play Mass Effect 2 for the first time ever.
‘¢ Squad recruitment, important to earn the respect of your team. Who you recruit and their loyalty to you will drive the experience.
‘¢ Decisions made in Mass Effect will carry over through their saved game import thingy.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

‘¢ The biggest MMO project ever developed, and it has enormous potential worldwide.
‘¢ Hundreds of voice actors cast in thousands of roles.
‘¢ Building game with ambitious goals.
‘¢ Localising the game in French, German and English. Today those websites have been launched for Germany and France.
‘¢ Game driven by player choices.
‘¢ All attendees can check out the SW: TOR demo at Gamescom.
‘¢ Showed the cinematic trailer in German.
