Dragon Age II Penny Arcade Comic and Qunari Profile

Over the weekend, BioWare’s Chris Priestly dropped by the official Dragon Age II forums to let us know about the availability of the first page to a new three-page Penny Arcade comic and the addition of the Qunari race to their ongoing profile pages. I’ve added all of the new images to our image gallery for easy viewing, and I’ll also quote the Qunari details to save you some time:

The people of the Qun are, perhaps, the least-understood group in Thedas. Nature has given them fierce horns and strange eyes, and the ignorant look on these formidable warriors and see monsters. The qunari most outsiders meet however, belong to their army. Only In Seheron and Par Vollen may one truly see the qunari in their entirety. There, the idea of their society as a single entity with each individual only a small part of the greater whole is most evident. Everyone and everything has its place, decided by their philosophy and not to be questioned. It is a life of certainty and equality, if not individuality, and unique among all cultures of Thedas.

Qunari Mages

The qunari call their mages ‘saarebas’, meaning “dangerous thing,” and treat them with the utmost caution. Saarebas must be carefully controlled by someone else, an ‘arvaarad’, “one who holds back evil,” because they cannot truly control themselves. The qunari pity and honor the saarebas, for striving while under constant threat from within is truly selfless, the highest virtue of the Qun.
