Dragon Age II Legacy DLC Review

The Controller Online seems to be the first to offer a review – albeit a fairly brief one – of Legacy, the first story-based add-on for BioWare’s sequel to Dragon Age, which was released yesterday. They cite the lack of recycled environments as a positive but note that the DLC doesn’t add much, both in terms of gameplay hooks and length, and award it a 7/10. Here’s a sampling:

The only real problem with Dragon Age 2 Legacy is that it doesn’t add much to the game. There are no new gameplay hooks and even though it gives some background to the main character it’s only a small inconsequential tidbit. You’ll still be fighting your way through a series of rooms, with a couple of new enemies, and looting chests. Not that this is a bad thing, Dragon Age 2 was a great game, but there isn’t anything to tell me I’m playing something new. I could easily forget that Legacy isn’t just another quest in the main story. And at right around three hours in length, it won’t be long before you’re back to the main game.

Still, the story was good and the last boss fight was epic so I did have a good time with Legacy. If only for a short time.
