Dissecting Dungeon Siege

One of GameSpy’s editors, Chris Buecheler, has written an article entitled “Dissecting Dungeon Siege“, in which he talks about what makes a game successful and how Gas Powered Games was able to do just that:

My friends at GameSpy are probably sick to death of hearing me say this, but there’s a pretty simple plan a developer can follow that will greatly enhance its chances of releasing a successful game. Dungeon Siege hits most of these points dead-on, and is the first title in a while to do so, so I thought I’d use this week’s column to discuss these items. You don’t need a big name designer (though it doesn’t hurt), you don’t need a strong company reputation, but you need to be aware of what sells, and make these factors a priority in development.
